FAQs
Insurance Reimbursement/Referral
I am a registered NVRG therapist (Dutch Association for Relationship and Family Therapy) and work outside the Dutch insurance system. There are several benefits to paying out-of-pocket: you don’t need a GP referral, there’s no requirement to work within a diagnostic framework, and your privacy is better protected since sensitive information isn’t shared with insurance companies.
The downside is that sessions are not covered by Dutch health insurance. However, if you have international insurance, it’s worth checking with your provider to see if they offer (partial) reimbursement for family therapy with an NVRG-registered therapist. Some employers offer a yearly budget for coaching or health-related services — be sure to inquire if this might be available to you.
At the start of our work together, we’ll set an intention, but no formal diagnosis will be made. The length of the process will be based on your needs and intentions, and we’ll work together to determine how long you’d like to continue.
Session Rates
Individual sessions (60 minutes): €120
Relationship sessions (75 minutes): €160
Family sessions (90 minutes): €180
If you’re interested in shorter or longer sessions, this can be discussed, and rates will be adjusted accordingly. Sessions are exempt from VAT (btw) under Dutch law.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
You can make changes to your appointment through the booking confirmation email you receive, or feel free to contact me by email at info@selinaboye.com or by phone at +31 616 021 907. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 48 hours before our appointment—this will be free of charge.
When a cancellation is made within 48 hours, I charge 50% of the session fee. For no-shows without prior notice, the full session fee will be invoiced. If you need to move an individual or relationship in-person session online, that’s always possible. Please note, I don’t offer online sessions for groups of three or more people, so please be sure to reschedule or cancel at least 48 hours in advance for those.
Location and Accessibility
The practice is located at Utrechtsestraat 40, in the center of Amsterdam, and you’ll enter through the store Maison L’Etoile. You are welcome to walk through to the waiting area, I will meet you there. Outside of opening hours, text or call me upon arrival.
The practice is on the first floor, accessible by a small staircase. If this presents a challenge, please reach out, and we’ll find an accessible solution.
If you have a compromised immune system or other health conditions that require specific precautions, such as COVID testing, please let me know, and we will make the necessary arrangements.
Process
Each therapy process is unique and will depend on your situation, (treatment) history and context. For individual, relationship and family therapy, the process may range from just 3-4 sessions to address a specific, framed issue, to more long-term commitments to explore deeper entanglements.
If you’re new to my practice, you can book an introductory call to get a sense of what working with me is like. After that, you’re welcome to schedule sessions at a pace that suits you. I generally recommend starting with a higher frequency, gradually spacing out sessions as we near the end to help consolidate your progress. Together, we’ll discuss your intentions and I’ll assist in estimating the duration based on what you’d like to work on.
My approach is process-oriented, focusing on what’s already within you. We’ll work to clear mental and physical barriers, helping you reconnect with your most genuine self. This ultimately allows for a deeper, more authentic relationship with yourself and others.
Solidarity Spots
I believe access to mental health care is a right, not a privilege. Unfortunately, systemic inequities create significant barriers for many to access the support they need. These can come in the form of financial limitations, discrimination, and structural oppression, making it difficult (or impossible) for some to receive the care they deserve.
In light of this, I have committed to reserving a number of solidarity therapy spots in an effort to address these disparities. These spots offer sessions at a reduced rate and are available for at least six months, after which we’ll check in to see if you’d like to continue and if your situation has changed.
Additionally, I offer options for delayed payments or payment in installments. I’m also open to bartering, particularly for art-related work or creative contributions. If you have any questions about these options or the availability of solidarity spots, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
